Super Easy DIY - Car Refresher

Imagine you're in the vehicle with your husband after a long day's work. The kids in the back after that sweaty ball practice. The dogs trip to the vet during a rain with wet coats. All of these things have left a not so pleasant odor.

  

Sure, you can make a trip to your local store and pick up one of those overpowering air fresheners that hold an artificial scent, and almost leave you nauseated when new. What are in those things exactly? I know fragrance is, which is an umbrella term and can include many chemicals to mask the toxins in a product. Febreeze, for instance, has only 3 ingredients listed on the can, though the Environmental Working Group disclosed 89.

I, for one, don't want to simply mask those smells with artificial fragrances, toxins, chemicals, or anything that can leach into the air, my lungs, or my bloodstream. Therefore I am sharing an awesome and amazingly easy do-it-yourself air freshener that you can make for your vehicle - Only this one is made with essential oil which is all-natural and can carry many health benefits.

What you will need:

• A wooden ornament of your choice (this can be found at any hobby store and are very inexpensive usually a dollar or two)
• Twine, or small hemp rope
• Essential oil of your choice (I like Evergreen spirit blend, orange or Lavender personally since they are calming and can help ease the stress of traffic.
• Paint Brush
• Small glass dish
• Ziploc bag
• Hammer
• Nail

Directions:

• Create a hole in the top of the ornament with the hammer and nail and place the twine through the hole.
• Place several drops of essential oil into the small glass dish.
• Use the paintbrush dipped into the essential oil and paint the oils on the wood ornament.
• Place the wood ornament into the Ziploc bag for several hours or overnight so that the oils can absorb into the wood.
• Once the oils are absorbed simply tie the ornament to your rearview mirror.

-----Like the artificial air fresheners, the oil scent will dissipate over time. Simply refresh the wood with a few more drops of oil. These could also be used with the Christmas essential oils to hang on the tree, in a closet, or anywhere that needs some refreshing.

PSS. My essential oil choice changes all of the time. Right now I am enjoying the fall scents like orange and clove. As the Christmas Holiday approaches, I will enjoy the Christmas Spirit. Spring leaves me thinking lavender or rose. I also love Frankincense.
