Age Defied
What if you didn’t know how old you were? How old would you be? The way you think about yourself impacts the way you feel physically. Living young is as much about your mental and emotional health as it is your physical health. It is about being optimistic, staying cognitively and physically active, and having a high quality of life.
One of the first things you can do is Ignore Negative Stereotypes about Aging. You don’t have to look or act like the stereotypical senior population as you age. Be yourself as you age, live the way you want to live, and ignore what used to be “age-appropriate” to a certain extent, I mean you do need to be sensible, and you do need to have some dignity.
Studies indicate that self-perception has a greater impact on survival than blood pressure and cholesterol levels. 3 Your positive attitude will help keep you going and help you feel your best at any age.
Goals help you grow and develop at any age. Look forward to the future, no matter your life stage. Maintain and pursue personal goals, professional aspirations, and physical targets. Start a new hobby, learn a language, or take up new challenges. Don’t use your age as an excuse to miss out on what you love doing or what you’ve always wanted to do. As Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “People do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing.” Living younger longer is a mentality, an outlook, an attitude. With a youthful mindset, you can promote your active, energetic, and healthy years. No matter how long you live, you’re bound to live better.
society is full of subtle cues about aging as an undesirable, deteriorating stage of life—and these unconscious cues may shape our views of ourselves, the way we act, and even shape our bodies. So keep a youthful state of mind, and defy your age.
Peace, M~
